Veneering

Several examples exist to demonstrate that in ancient Egypt, Rome and Japan thin slices of wood were taken from logs and used to decorate the furnishings and buildings of the rulers and the wealthy. This was particularly so in places where wood was scarce and this technique helped in getting the best use of the limited resources of wood.

Modern techniques allow us to produce natural wood veneer in very thin slices from logs of wood. These slices are just millimetres in thickness. They can be applied to a stable core, such as MDF, where together they create a sealed, stable material that will not expand or contract like solid wood does. This makes veneered panels and furniture particularly suitable in our modern buildings, offices and homes.

At McEvoy Veneers & Marquetry we produce highly stable veneered panels and furniture. Using the precision of laser cutting technology, we match and apply the veneer to ensure our products are both of high quality and aesthetically pleasing.
