Laser Works

Lasers were first invented in the 1960s and have since become an indispensable part of modern life. They range in size and power and have a wide range of uses from optical fibre enabled broadband to laser surgery to cutting and welding.

At McEvoy Veneers & Marquetry we use computer controlled laser machines to cut, engrave and etch wood and veneers. This gives us an accuracy that was previously only imagined. It also allows us to produce pieces with high levels of detail and do so consistently and efficiently. Even though we specialise in working with wood and wood veneers, we can also apply our etching process to glass and our cutting process to other materials such as felt, paper, card, thin metals and plastics.

Commemorative Pieces

The laser machines we use allow us to produce commemorative pieces by engraving onto wooden surfaces. Examples of such pieces are individually crafted prizes and presentations for clubs and societies, commemorative pieces to mark births or weddings or other special occasions.

Cut Outs

With our laser technology we can produce several of one type of cut-out. These could be used in arts and craft clubs, schools or by hobbyists. They include self-assembled decorations, 3-D models and souvenir pieces.

Engraving

The machines in our laser department can etch and engrave onto a variety of surfaces. We mainly apply this to wooden surfaces but can also work with other materials, including glass.

Fretwork

Using high precision lasers we can cut highly intricate designs into a variety of materials with millimetre accuracy. This includes wall panels and screens.
